gelatin mono is a lo fi font with an emphasis on natural letter forms and readability. it was designed for situations where you want a monospace font but flow is essential, such as large blocks of text, spatialized poetry, ASCII art.
it was created for the upcoming game "idyll", which you can read more about here.
5x7 with 2 pixel descenders. designed for single pixel gaps between letters, line spacing 10 pixels.
it is a mixed serif font. you'll notice slender forms such as "l", "i", "t" have some serifs, while the bottoms of some verticals (such as "r" or "P") and heavier forms (such as "n" or "m") are missing serifs. this helps to retain regularity of letter weight and flow without the heaviness of a full serif font (this balance is always a bit tricky in monospace fonts - see, for instance, courier which opts for heavier, serif letter forms).
gelatin mono uses light antialiasing (only one additional value). it's intended as a compromise: it retains the crispness and rhythm of 1 bit lo fi fonts, but it has enough antialiasing to imply the curves and angles of natural letter forms by varying line weight + rounding corners gently.
